Welcome to Year One!
'All about me!'
Well done to everyone who returned their first homework, we enjoyed sharing it with our friends and learnt lots about each other. These are now proudly displayed in our classroom.
This week we have been thinking about being respectful and have been trying really hard to listen and follow instructions. I was so pleased to be able to give out so many 'Good Work' certificates to those children who have managed to do this really well all week!
In maths we have been learning to recognise numerals to 20 and practising our number bonds to 10. We have brought home some maths homework to practise recognising the numerals, please encourage your child to do this independently. We have also completed our first 'mental maths test' and I was pleased at how well we were able to listen.
We have been learning to read longer words during our phonics sessions and have completed our first pieces of writing in our special writing books. In our science lessons we have been learning to name the different parts of our body and discovering what they are for. We have also discovered the answer to Emma's question, 'How do we breathe?'
This morning we practised making different shapes with our bodies in P.E. and thought about different ways of moving around the hall.
What a busy week - no wonder we are so tired!
