Year 1

Welcome to Year One!

We are working hard with our phonics to prepare for our phonics screening which will take place later in the year. We have been practising our reading every day, please remember to bring children's  reading books in each day so they do not miss out.

We are very lucky this half term to be receiving special P.E lessons. We will be working with a qualified football coach on a Monday and a qualified basketball coach every Thursday. Children need to have a named P.E kit which can stay in school and be taken home during the holidays. Please ensure earrings are removed on Monday's and Thursday's.

Please ensure children are appropriately dressed for the current weather conditions. When possible, they will still be going outside every day and will require a coat and suitable warm clothing.

We will bring home a homework challenge every Friday, please support the children to complete this independently and return it to school on Wednesday so that we can celebrate the children's hard work with them.

We have an 'open door policy', if you need to pass on a message about your child on a morning then please speak to Miss McHale or Mrs Mawson. If you require a longer conversation then please contact Miss McHale to make an appointment.

We always welcome parental support, if you are able to spare some time either on a regular or ad hoc basis then we would love to hear from you.
