Merry Christmas from Year One!
We have worked so hard in Year one this term. We have learnt lots of new alternate sounds so we are now able to read and write even more words accurately.
In maths, we have been learning about place value, addition and subtraction. We have learnt lots of different strategies for solving number problems within 20 and we have practised reading and writing number sentences.
Our theme was '40 years of Kirk Fenton' and we contributed our learning to the whole school project culminating in our open afternoon where we shared our learning with our local community. Our sketches, tally charts, maps and reports are now proudly displayed in our classroom.
We have been very busy during outdoor learning and you can find out what we have been doing on the outdoor learning page.
We have also been learning about Christmas and are very excited to be performing our nativity on 19th and 20th of December.
Phew! No wonder we are so tired and deserve a well-earned rest!
Once we return, our theme will be 'Castles' and we are looking forward to planning our first Year One trip.
Have a fabulous Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
